Education
Plamen Velev was born in Bulgaria. He speaks fluently four languages: Spanish, Bulgarian, French and Russian. He has fair knowledge of English and German.
Plamen graduated the Bulgarian State Conservatoire in Sofia, Bulgaria in the class of Prof. Svetoslav Manolov.
He specialized in interpretation and chamber music with Prof. Zdravko Iordanov and Ema Bojinova in Bulgaria.
Plamen continued taking classes and perfecting his skills with names like Janos Starker, Laslo Mezo and Luis Claret among others.

Plamen currently plays on a “J.Gabrieli” cello made in 1751. Previously, this cello belonged to A. Korchagin from Quartet “Shostakovich” – Moscow, Russia.
In the last few years Plamen Velev has created and established Kamerata “Quiodi” – Santiago de Compustella, Spain.
He has played in the following chamber groups: “Cuarteto de cuerda de RFG”, “Trio de Compostela” , Duo “Bagatela” – Santiago de Compustella, Spain.
Plamen was a professor, teaching the following courses: “Isla de La Palma”, “Internationale Bachakademie”, Encuentro de la J.O.N.C., Encuentro de Violoncelistas de Galicia – Santiago de Compustella, Spain.
Plamen has played as a solo cello with Real Filharmonia de Galicia and Chamber “Quiodi” – Spain.
He has played in the Academic Orchestra of the Conservatoire in Santiago de Compustella, Spain under the leadership of Paul Daniels, Helmut Rilling, Maximino Zumalave, Corado Bolsi and Christoper Hogwood
Plamen Velev has played as a solo cellist and a member in chamber groups in Bulgaria, Spain, Belgium, Russia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, and Macedonia.
Awards
Plamen Velev is a distinguished Laureate of the Bulgarian National Music Competition “Svetoslav Obretenov” and the VIIth Bulgarian National Competition.
